For 70 years, the Health Department has led the way in responding to the health care needs of Hyde County residents.
Our mission is to promote, protect and assure the health of Hyde County and surrounding areas by providing public health services essential for a safe and healthy community.
The many varied programs that can be accessed here include disease prevention and control, preparedness and response to emergent diseases and events, environmental health, medication assistance, WIC nutrition and supplemental food, and personal health programs, such as family planning and child health. Some of our programs reach across county lines, such as the medication assistance program, to provide the same quality of care to others.
The Health Department’s caring and professional staff is comprised of registered nurses, environmental health specialists, nurse practitioners, health educators, pharmacists, billing clerks, medication technicians, and management personnel.
